HEAR NOTHING, SEE NOTHING, SPOIL NOTHING.

Water

At Table Rock Lake, in Greenville, USA a Herrenknecht AVN1200TC is driving through brutally hard rock towards the middle of the lake for a water supply project, before being recovered from a shaft only 2.36m in diameter. Also in the USA, in Walnut Creek, an EPB2400AB by Herrenknecht is being used to construct a 1.3km long drinking water tunnel with the seldom used Rib & Lagging procedure.

Sewage

In 2006, a Herrenknecht Roadheader laid a sewage tunnel under a church in the town of Offenburg, Germany, with only a few meters of the overhead cover with no ground settlement whatever. In Linz, Austria, a Herrenknecht AVN1600TB with medium-pressure jet nozzles enabled a pipe of nearly 1km in length to be bored underneath the Donau. The clay soil is thus bored through easily without clogging of the cutting wheel.

Electricity

Herrenknecht Technology built two 600m long electricity supply tunnels as part of the major "Palm Islands" project in Jumeirah, Dubai, the eighth of the modern Wonders of the World. In 2005, a Herrenknecht EPB2400 curved its precise way underneath a bay in Singapore to build a new cable duct.

Gas

A retrievable Herrenknecht AVN800XC proved itself in Sydney as an ideal trail blazer for a HDD rig. Miles away from any form of infrastructure, in 2005, an AVND1600AB crossed under the Kura river in the Caucasus linking an oil and gas pipeline.

Oil

In mid-2005, two Herrenknecht HDD rigs linked the largest German oil well off the coast of Schleswig-Holstein with the German mainland. A Herrenknecht AVND2000AB hydro shield overcame extreme geological conditions to pass 800m under the Newa river, near St. Petersburg, in Russia.
