The 800 meter long route for the Seo Cho cable tunnel contained 5 curves with a narrow radius of 200 to 250 meters. A further challenge was drilling safely through the cellar of a multi-storey building, where a new subway station was being built. In the heavily built-up area of Seo Cho it was not possible to set up a deep target shaft without completely blocking off one of the busy streets.
An expanded AVND2400AH mastered the drilling, which can be described as "the mother of all pipe jacking". Due to a lack of space at the start shaft the pipes had to be delivered just in time, to save time with regard to handling. An automatic lubrication system kept the driving strength lower than expected despite the extremely abrasive granite, so that only 4 of the 9 intermediate jacking stations installed had to be used. The project was concluded in March 2003.
