Herrenknecht AG has expanded its service range for customers in mechanized tunnelling by founding the company "Herrenknecht Formwork Technology GmbH". It is a 100% subsidiary of Herrenknecht AG and is based in Schwanau (southern Germany). Herrenknecht Formwork Technology GmbH offers integrated solutions ranging from mould systems for the forming and manufacturing of lining segments and the corresponding handling and transport equipment, to turn-key lining segment factories.
Schwanau, April 12, 2007. Every day, hundreds of lining segments are installed in small and large tunnel tubes around the world. Precisely and perfectly formed lining segments, which are delivered just in time and installed to create tunnel rings, are the most important component for the overall quality of a tunnel construction, if a smooth production process for the mechanized creation of durable tunnels is to be guaranteed. In the technology required to manufacture perfectly fitting and formed lining segments, the most important thing is to attain the highest degree of precision, quality and durability. Herrenknecht's formwork experts have extensive expertise and references in the design and construction, the manufacture and servicing of formwork technology for mechanized tunnelling. In the past 12 months, Herrenknecht has equipped 25 construction sites around the world with precision mould technology for the manufacture of lining segments. Herrenknecht delivered turn-key lining segment production facilities for the construction of the A41 Mont Sion highway tunnel in France and for a BOT project in Brisbane, Australia.
In addition to the project-specific design for lining segment factories, Herrenknecht Formwork provides and installs all the corresponding facilities and equipment. This includes handling equipment to turn, orientate, remove, deliver and store the segments, as well as equipment to install seals and produce the surface finish of the segments. All common transport systems to transfer the lining segments to the tunnel production site just in time are also provided.
The great demand for formwork equipment for mechanized tunnelling and the fact that mechanized tunnelling customers increasingly expect all-round, integrated technical solutions, inspired Herrenknecht AG to accommodate its team of specialists in their own subsidiary company. "Herrenknecht Formwork Technology GmbH" employs 40 people in total. The company is responsible not only for developing and manufacturing formwork technology equipment, but also for selling it all around the world.
