MEDALS FOR OESER AND OBERGFÖLL AT THE 2010 ‎EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS IN BARCELONA.

Sponsored by Herrenknecht, top athletes Christina Obergföll and Jennifer ‎Oeser achieved excellent results at the 2010 European Athletics ‎Championships in Barcelona. Christina Obergföll took the silver medal while ‎Jennifer Oeser achieved a personal best, grabbing the bronze medal in the ‎heptathlon.

Barcelona, Spain / Schwanau, Germany, August 3, 2010. The 20th European Athletics ‎Championships from July 26 to August 1, 2010 involved almost 1,400 participants, including ‎German athletes Jennifer Oeser (Heptathlon) and Christina Obergföll (Javelin), who are ‎sponsored by Herrenknecht. Both of these young ladies were regarded as medal hopefuls ‎from the outset. And they did not disappoint. After an effortless qualifying round, Christina ‎Obergföll reached the final where she achieved the second-best performance of the day, ‎throwing 65.58 meters. During an exciting final, her German teammate Linda Stahl catapulted ‎herself to the top with a distance of 66.81 meters. But Christina Obergföll still obtained the ‎silver medal.

Jennifer Oeser mastered both competition days in Barcelona's Olympic Stadium superbly, ‎achieving a career personal best in a top-class heptathlon field and grabbing a well-deserved ‎bronze medal. Oeser improved her personal best marks in 4 out of 7 disciplines (110 ‎meter ‎hurdles, javelin, long jump and 200 meters). Four times since the heptathlon was introduced at ‎the 1982 European Championships, her final total of 6683 points would have been enough to ‎take the European crown. But in Barcelona she was obliged to make way for the UK's ‎Jessica ‎Ennis with a best year performance of 6823 points, ahead of Ukrainian Natalia ‎Dobrynska.‎

Jennifer Oeser was delighted with her medal and the fact that she has improved her personal ‎best mark by 190 points. The 27-year old top athlete is confident she can do even better and ‎has already set her sights on the next major competition: "I aim to pull out all the stops for the ‎‎2012 Olympics!" Herrenknecht is proud of these two German star athletes supported by ‎entrepreneur Martin Herrenknecht.‎
