WELL SUPPLIED FOR THE FUTURE.

PRODUCT PORTFOLIO

AS THE WORLD’S POPULATION GROWS, so does the need for underground supply and disposal systems. Both emerging and developing countries, as well as modern megacities, need to prepare their infrastructures for the future. Pipelines for water, sewage, oil, gas, electricity or communication – more and more people around the world rely on functioning and efficient tunnel systems in the underground.

AS A GLOBAL LEADER, Herrenknecht Utility Tunnelling machines offer solutions for all geologies and even the most challenging conditions to reach final breakthrough quickly and safely. Some 850 Herrenknecht Utility Tunnelling machines with diameters ranging from 0.10 to 4.20m are in operation worldwide, precisely constructing supply and disposal tunnels. This innovative trenchless tunnelling technology leaves traffic, business and the environment untouched.

SEWAGE
MORE THAN 500 PROJECTS WORLDWIDE
  • 2.5 billion people around the world lack access to sanitary facilities.
  • Many cities are pushing ahead with projects to create efficient sewage disposal systems.
WATER
MORE THAN 100 PROJECTS WORLDWIDE
  • The world’s population is growing by 80 million people per year and they require an extra 64 billion cubic meters of water.
  • Infrastructure projects to provide water supply have high priority all over the world.

ELECTRICITY & HYDROPOWER
MORE THAN 60 PROJECTS WORLDWIDE
  • Global energy consumption continues to increase.
  • The role of hydroelectric power in energy supply is growing.
OIL & GAS
MORE THAN 80 PROJECTS WORLDWIDE
  • The worldwide network of pipelines is being extended for the distribution of oil and gas.
  • The growing demand for energy in areas with prospering economies makes large-scale investments in efficient networks necessary.

MACHINES

AVN MACHINES

Herrenknecht AVN machines are the best choice for excavating utility tunnels through complex or varying geologies.

  • Safe excavation in various ground conditions
  • Remote-controlled pipe jacking, non-remote possible

Diameter Range:

  • Pipe Jacking (ID): 0.25– 3.50m
  • Segmental Lining (ID): 2.00 – 3.50m

AVND MACHINES

AVND type machines support the tunnel face if necessary with a supporting fluid and an additional compressed air cushion in the excavation chamber

  • Very safe in mixed and difficult soil conditions – e. g. with high water pressures or when crossing beneath sensitive structures
  • Precise control of tunnel face through stabilizing suspension

Diameter Range:

  • Pipe Jacking (ID): 1.60 – 3.50m
  • Segmental Lining (ID): 2.00 – 3.50m

EPB SHIELDS

Ideal choice for cohesive and incohesive soils with high clay and silt content.

  • Very high tunnelling performance in appropriate ground conditions
  • Use in heterogeneous soils thanks to soil conditioning (foam/additives/polymers)

Diameter Range:

  • Pipe Jacking (ID): 1.40 – 3.50m
  • Segmental Lining (ID): 2.00 – 3.50m

TBM

For tunnels to be excavated above the groundwater level in hard geological conditions a Herrenknecht TBM is the best solution.

  • Safe and economical in homogeneous and stable grounds without water
  • Adaptable for use in all rock formations

Diameter Range:

  • Pipe Jacking (ID): 1.20 – 4.20m
  • Segmental Lining (ID): 2.00 – 3.50m

VSM

With Vertical Shaft Sinking Machines (VSM) shafts with large diameters can be sunk quickly and safely.

  • Modular machine technology with separated work units
  • Shaft construction with precast concrete segments or in-situ casting
  • Working below the groundwater level without lowering the groundwater

Diameter Range:

  • Shaft (ID): 4.50 – 15.00m

SERVICE SOLUTIONS AND ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT

TAILOR-MADE SERVICE PACKAGES help to keep construction work progressing rapidly. Herrenknecht provides a wide range of services for any aspects of Utility Tunnelling, including all on-site services. Fully integrated and perfectly coordinated – that is our Full-Service philosophy.

SEPARATION PLANTS

For Utility Tunnelling Herrenknecht offers innovative Separation Plants (HSP) with a sequential modular design. During each separation stage, the maximum possible quantity of solid particles is removed from the slurry. The system permits continuous and high advance rates, reducing downtime to minimum.
