Always precise on course.
Herrenknecht tunnelling machinery control panels are equipped with the latest computer-supported process technology. This not only ensures that the TBMs are fully functional, but also enables all the activities associated with tunnelling to be monitored and controlled. Modern information technology also guarantees that the Herrenknecht TBMs always stay dead on the preset course and arrive at their destinations with knife-edge precision. For example, after traveling 14km through the mountain complex, the two Herrenknecht Gripper-TBMs on the southern side of the Gotthard Base Tunnel arrived at their destination with a horizontal deviation of 5cm and a vertical deviation of 2cm. This can be compared with a marksman hitting a 1 Euro coin from a distance of 2km. The associated company VMT GmbH is Herrenknecht’s partner for the latest measurement and navigation technology equipment.
Navigation system for pipe jacking.
Herrenknecht development engineers have developed a flexible navigation system in order to standardize, as far as possible, accurate navigation for pipe jacking work. The "Universal Navigation System" U.N.S. is easy to adapt to any tunnelling conditions. Irrespective of tunnel length, diameter and route, the modular U.N.S. system always has the appropriate hardware and software components ready. Once it is installed in the machine, it is always possible quickly to adapt and extend the "Universal Navigation System". Because this navigation platform is so flexible it is easy to reuse Microtunnelling machinery in a wide variety of projects.
The following components are included in the measurement system:
- track wheel with encoder
- Laser (Electronical Laser System ELS)
- optional hose water scales
- laser target
- evaluation computer with monitor
- printer
- data cable
