Separation plant: keep it flowing.
Separation made easy: Herrenknecht separation plant
Separation is an important, sensitive and integral component of tunnelling systems. Its purpose is to separate the solid from the fluid components in the excavated material, so that the slurry water can be returned to the circuit after depositing the excavated soil. Conventional systems fail after only a short while because the fine particles are not extracted, thus causing the transportation medium to thicken. A high tunnelling rate is completely reliant on a powerful separation system.
Separation in the separation plant takes place in several stages - dependent on the granular size of the loose rock - and is based on mechanically generated centrifugal forces and screening technology. Herrenknecht supplies its customers with innovative separation systems, which are ideally geared to tunnelling technology and can be operated right there on the construction site. Modern screening technology, hydrovacuum cyclones, vertical separators and centrifuges form a closed recycling concept and ensure that the critical fine particles are removed. Both in Traffic and in Utility Tunnelling.
Advantages of the separation systems
- powerful separation system for the treatment of bentonite suspensions from slurry-supported tunnelling operations
- powerful treatment and reuse of bentonite suspensions of up to 2,800m3/h
- higher screening performance through the use of twin oscillation motors
- variable screen linings permit rapid adjustment to changes in the geology
- container-based modular construction ensures high mobility and rapid installation
- noise-insulated design keeps sound levels low
