Optimal handling of excavation tools.

One of the basic preconditions for successful tunnelling is the use of the right excavation tools. Herrenknecht does not only offer the tools, but also the service to go with them, from the provision of a customized cuttershop container on the site, the deployment of a cutter specialist to train the staff on site in repairs, through to remedial measures for cutter disks in a Herrenknecht cuttershop of the type existing in many regions already.

 

These services are rounded off by our technical support for the optimum utilization, project-specific designs and the preparation of suitable excavation strategies to minimize wear. In addition to the delivery of excavation tools we also offer them from consignment stock on site or in the form of a running meter contract. This includes tooling with spare parts and stock keeping.

BREAKTHROUGH IN LIMMERN.

On Oktober, 14, 2011, the tunnelling team in Limmern reached the breakthrough of the first shaft with a specially designed Gripper-TBM for the excavation of a 40° slope.

WORLD RECORD ALONG THE ENTIRE ROUTE. FOURTH HERRENKNECHT TBM SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES THE LAST GOTTHARD TUNNEL SECTION.

Following final breakthrough in the western tubes, the two 57-kilometer main tubes of the Gotthard Base Tunnel are now fully driven. On March 23, 2011, miners commenced final excavation of the world's longest railway tunnel with the Herrenknecht TBM "Heidi" (diameter 9.43 m).
