Strong commitment for strong personalities

Thomas Röhler

The partnership between Herrenknecht and the top javelin thrower has existed since March 1, 2017. Thomas Röhler discovered athletics in 1998 at the age of 7. In 2010 already he was accepted onto the German national javelin team. He held the German national championship title continuously from 2012 to 2016. In 2016 he achieved the highest award for a sportsman when he won gold at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro with a throw of 90.30 meters. One year later, he won the IAAF Diamond-League with an excellent throw to 93.30m. From 2018, Thomas Röhler will represent the German Athletics Federation and his sport in the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

Johannes Vetter

The javelin thrower, born on March 26, 1993, has been sponsored by Herrenknecht since March 1, 2017. After taking part in several U23 tournaments and the 2015 World Championships, Johannes Vetter impressed with fourth place at the 2016 Olympic Games. He is trained by Boris Obergföll, German national trainer, former German athlete, Olympic competitor and husband of Christina Obergföll. On July 9th, 2017, Vetter won the German championship for the first time and just two days later in Lucerne, on July 11th, raised the German record to 94.44 meters – the second-longest javelin throw in recent history. At the 2017 World Athletics Championships Johannes Vetter achieved the culmination of his career to date and secured the gold medal.

David Storl

Since April 1, 2013 Dr.-Ing. E.h. Martin Herrenknecht has supported the shot put star born on August 27, 1990. In 2011 at the World Championships in Daegu, South Korea, he became the first German world champion in the shot put. At 21 years of age he was also the youngest world champion to date in his discipline. In 2012, with a top performance of 21.86 meters, David Storl won the silver medal in the shot put at the Olympic Games in London. At the 2013 World Athletics Championships in Moscow David Storl took home his second world champion title. On March 8, 2014, Storl won silver at the Indoor World Championships in the Ergo Arena of Sopot. He again won the gold medal at the Diamond-League Meeting 2015 with 22.20m and exceeded the “magic border” of 22 meter as third German shot putter ever.

Carolin Schäfer

Born on December 5, 1991, in 2013 aged just 22, Carolin Schäfer became German Champion in heptathlon for the first time. In the U20 already the young athlete had attracted attention by winning the World and European Champion titles. Dr.-Ing. E.h. Martin Herrenknecht has supported the sporting all-rounder since December 2014. At the 2014 European Athletics Championships in Zurich she achieved 4th place. In 2016 she finished fifth at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and won the IAAF Combined Challenge. At the 2017 multi-events meeting in Götzis, Carolin Schäfer outdid herself and won first place with a new personal best of 6,836 points. Schäfer achieved the culmination of her career to date with an outstanding performance at the 2017 World Athletics Championships in London, where she secured the silver medal in heptathlon.

Christina Obergföll

The top javelin athlete, born on August 22, 1981, has been financially supported by Dr.-Ing. E.h. Martin Herrenknecht since 2000. Greatest successes: Runner-up in the World Championships, German Champion, European record holder, winner of the Bronze Medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, winner of the Silver Medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and winner of the Gold Medal at the 2013 Athletics World Championships in Moscow. Besides, she was chosen in 2013 as a sportswoman of the year.

Freiburg charity association for children with cancer

Herrenknecht AG had collected a donation of 87,000 euros by the end of July 2012 for the Freiburg charity association for children with cancer. The founder and Chairman of the Board of Management, Dr.-Ing. E. h. Martin Herrenknecht launched the donation activities on the occasion of the company's 35th anniversary gala. Employees, customers, partners of the company as well as the Chairman of the Board of Management himself gave donations.

Roland Berger scholarship

The Roland Berger scholarship promotes talented children and youths from socially disadvantaged families in a support program which focuses on the individual and considers the overall personality. The aim is to support young people who are prepared to take on responsibility in society.Herrenknecht has supported the foundation by financing two scholarships annually since 2011.

Parish

Since summer 1998, Dr.-Ing. E.h. Martin Herrenknecht has contributed to maintaining a parish in the Schwanau, Allmannsweier community with a private donation.

Christmas donations

For several years, Herrenknecht has supported various charities with financial resources. These include Germany's Relief Coalition, Doctors Without Borders, People for People – Karlheinz Böhm's Ethiopia Aid, SOS Children's Villages, Unicef as well as the UN Refugee Agency.
