Mobile Vertical Drilling Rigs in operation
Mobile vertical drilling rigs from Herrenknecht can drill down to 250 meters in order to efficiently explore shallow geothermal energy. This form of geothermal energy is used to heat and cool residential houses, public facilities as well as office and industrial buildings. From planning to design, to construction and operation, Herrenknecht supplies the entire technology from one single source and is there for the customer as a project consultant at all times.
A few degrees plus are enough
Geothermal energy is the energy that is stored in the Earth in the form of heat beneath the Earth's crust, which can be exploited using geothermal probes and heat pumps. Geothermal probes are introduced at depths of down to between 50 and 250 meters, where temperatures of 8°C to 14°C can be found. A transport medium circulating within the probes transfers the heat energy in a closed circuit to a heat pump. The heat pump converts the low-temperature thermal energy from the underground into heating energy. Around 75 percent of the energy can be utilized, and around 25 percent is supplied as electrical current. Cooling can also be achieved in summer using the same principle.
The VB10 vertical drilling rig - versatile and compact
The newly developed VB10 vertical drilling rig is designed with maximum compactness and versatility of use. The quality of the materials and workmanship always fulfill the highest requirements. The VB10 also has enough power reserves for use in large-scale projects at great depths. At the same time, the rig's dimensions have been kept as small as possible. As such, they can be used on projects where conventional drilling rigs cannot drill because they need too much space.
