Ontario Line South
Canada, Toronto
2025 – today

Two Herrenknecht TBMs are currently preparing for their long journey from Germany across the Atlantic to Canada, where they will make a significant contribution to the construction of the southern section of the Ontario Line in Toronto.  The 15.6 kilometer underground line will bring a total of 15 new stations to the city and significantly reduce travel times - from 70 minutes to less than 30 minutes. The line will run from Exhibition Place through the heart of the city center to the Eglinton Crosstown LRT on Don Mills Road, significantly relieving pressure on the existing transit network.

Ontario Transit Group (OTG), the construction joint venture between Ferrovial and Vinci (through its subsidiary JANIN ATLAS), has commissioned Herrenknecht to supply two EPB Shields, each with a diameter of 6,870 mm, a drive power of 1,280 kW and a torque of 6,925 kNm, for the construction of the underground line.

After their arrival in Toronto, the TBMs will be
