San Petro de Pinatar Sea Outfall
Spain, Murcia
2005 – 2006

In the developed tourist region of San Pedro del Pinatar that is located near Murcia and approx. 100 kilometers from Alicante, fresh water was required for different vacation resorts. A tunnel was planned to transfer seawater from the sea to a desalination plant.

An AVND2000AB was launched in November 2005 to carry out the project. The micromachine bored its way through sand, loam and silt. After just under ten months, the AVN achieved breakthrough in August 2006 successfully completing the 1,740-meter-long drive.
