15. Our social media presences / data processing by social networks
We maintain publicly available profiles on social networks. The individual social networks we use can be found below.
Social networks such as Facebook etc. can generally analyze your user behavior extensively when you visit their website or a website with integrated social media content (such as Like buttons or banner ads). By visiting our social media presences, numerous data protection-relevant processing operations are triggered. Specifically:
If you are logged in to your social media account and visit our social media presence, the operator of the social media portal can assign this visit to your user account. Under certain circumstances, however, your personal data may also be recorded if you are not logged in or do not have an account with the respective social media portal. In this case, data is collected, for example, via cookies, which are stored on your device or by recording your IP address.
With the help of the data collected in this way, the operators of the social media portals can create user profiles in which your preferences and interests are stored. In this way you can be shown interest-based advertising within and outside of the particular social media presence. If you have an account with the respective social network, the interest-based advertising can be displayed on all devices on which you are or were logged in.
Our social media presences are designed to provide an informative presence on the Internet. This is a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The analysis processes initiated by the social networks may be based on divergent legal bases to be specified by the operators of the social networks (for example, consent within the meaning of Article 6 (1) (a) GDPR).
Responsible entity and assertion of rights
If you visit any of our social media presences (e.g. Facebook), we, together with the social media platform operator, are responsible for the data processing operations triggered during this visit. In principle, you can assert your rights (access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and complaint) both to us and to the operator of the respective social media portal (e.g. Facebook).
Please note that despite the shared responsibility with the social media portal operators, we do not have full influence on the data processing operations of the social media portals. Our options are determined by the company policy of the respective provider.
Duration of storage
The data collected directly by us via the social media presence will be deleted from our systems as soon as the purpose of storage no longer exists, you ask us to delete it, you withdraw your consent to the storage or the purpose for the data storage no longer exists. Saved cookies remain on your device until you delete them. Mandatory legal provisions – in particular retention periods – remain unaffected.
We have no control over the duration of storage of your data stored by the social network operators for their own purposes. For details, please refer to the social network operators directly (e.g. in their privacy notice, see below).
Social networks in detail
We use Facebook Pixel on our website. Facebook Pixel is a service of the social network Facebook, which is operated by Facebook Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland ("Facebook"). We use Facebook Pixel to be able to display targeted advertising on Facebook. The audience is determined based on a user's interest in our online offering. When a user clicks on an ad placed by us on Facebook, Facebook Pixel adds an extension to the URL of our linked page. We write this URL parameter into the user's browser using a cookie. The cookie set by us can then be read by Facebook Pixel and allows the data to be forwarded to Facebook to determine a target audience for our Facebook ads. With the help of the Facebook pixel we can also evaluate the effectiveness of Facebook ads for statistical and market research purposes. We can thus track whether users were redirected to our website after clicking on a Facebook ad ("conversion"). The user data collected is anonymous for us and does not allow us to draw any conclusions about a user's identity. However, a direct connection to the Facebook servers is established. This enables Facebook to process and store your data so that it is possible to draw conclusions about your personal Facebook user profile. Data processing by Facebook is carried out in accordance with Facebook's data usage policy https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/
The data processing associated with the use of the Facebook Pixel is only carried out with your express consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR.
To protect your privacy, we only use embedded YouTube videos in an enhanced privacy mode. This means that YouTube does not store cookies for a user who is viewing a website with an embedded YouTube video, but does not click on the video to play the video. If the video is played, YouTube may store cookies on the user's computer, but no personal information about the playback of embedded videos will be stored. For more information about data protection by YouTube (Google), visit www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy
The data processing associated with the use of the LinkedIn pixel is only carried out with your express consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR.
Functions of the service Instagram are integrated on our pages. These functions are provided by Facebook Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland. If you are logged into your Instagram account, you can link the contents of our pages to your Instagram profile by clicking on the Instagram button. At present, it must be assumed that a direct connection to the services of the provider will be established and at least the IP address and device-related information will be collected and used. It is also possible that attempts are made to save cookies on the computer used.
