Sungei Pandan River Crossing
Singapore
2007

In Singapore two cable tunnels had to be built crossing under a bay. The route is characterized by a simultenously vertical and horizontal curve (space curve). The use of soil conditioning agents permitted a secure advance through limestone, loam, fine sand and silt. To counteract the heavy wear on the discs in the heterogeneous geology, additional wear plates were welded onto the cutterhead.
