Jiangyin 2nd River Crossing Passageway
China, Jiangyin
2021 – today

The Jiangyin Jingjiang Yangtze River Tunnel project, which starts in the north of the city of Jiangyin at the Jingjiang Gongxin Highway and ends in the south on Furong Avenue, has a total length of 11.83 kilometers. Here, a 6,445-meter-long tunnel with an internal diameter of 15.5 meters is being built to cross the Yangtze using mechanized tunnelling (tunnelling length 4,952 meters). In Jiangyin, this will not only create China's second longest tunnel under the Yangtze river. The road tunnel is also the largest mechanized tunnelling drive under construction with the highest expected water pressures.

Jiangsu Province is positioning the construction of the tunnel as a pioneering model project and is integrating it into a concept for the environmentally friendly planning of river crossings.

Once completed, the six-lane road tunnel will reduce the traffic pressure on the Yangtze bridges and make a significant contribution to the development strategy of the economic belt.
