Pemex Ethan Gas Pipeline Villahermosa
Mexico, Villahermosa
2014 – 2015

In the Tabasco region of Mexico, the pipeline network near the provincial capital Villahermosa needed to be expanded. For the installation of a 24" gas pipeline and a 6" data pipeline Herrenknecht supplied an HK250T Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Rig. The project plan provided for six crossings of up to 950 meters each – four under rivers and two under lakes.

Driving of the first crossing began in July 2014. One by one the crossings with the HDD Rig under the rivers Grijalva, Mezcalapa, Tonala and Pichucalco as well as the two lakes were completed. When the boreholes were ready, the 6" data pipeline and the 24" gas pipeline were pushed through one after the other. The gas pipeline is now used for the transportation of ethane.
