Schwanau, Germany, January 28, 2013. The Baden-Wuerttemberg Finance and Economics Minister Dr. Nils Schmid paid a visit to Herrenknecht AG in Schwanau/ Black Forest at the end of January. Company founder and Chairman of the Board of Management Dr.-Ing. E. h. Martin Herrenknecht guided Schmid through the workshops where about 150 tunnel boring machines with diameters of up to 19 meters are assembled every year. The Finance and Economics Minister declared, obviously impressed: "The company Herrenknecht has set worldwide standards in mechanized tunnelling with its capacity for development since more than 30 years. Not only the machines produced but also the projects all over the world in which these machines are being used are record breaking. Currently, in Schwanau alone 12 large tunnel boring machines with diameters of up to 13 meters are being built. After being accepted by the customer, most of them still have a long way to travel to their place of use. They travel to Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Sao Paulo, St. Petersburg or London. 

Minister Schmid made use of the opportunity to talk to the employees during his visit to Herrenknecht. "This company has created a corporate culture which will make it fit to occupy a top position in technology in this important sector also in the future."
