The airport Zaventem in Brussels can be reached by road and rail. For the future development of the business location Brussels-Zaventem, several infrastructure projects have been launched to optimize access to the airport. The Diabolo tunnel will connect the Brussels Airport Zaventem with the European high-speed train network.

An important construction phase of the first PPP project in Belgium – at Brussels Airport – has been successfully completed: Breakthrough at the Diabolo tunnel has been achieved. The S-464 Mixshield arrived at the target shaft after only six months.  During tunnelling an average weekly performance of 111.8 meters was reached. The highest weekly performance was 166.5 meters. The airport's runway were safely crossed under with Herrenknecht Mixshield technology.
