Linz Sewer
Austria, Linz
2006

The newly developed medium-pressure nozzle system was the solution - it prevents the clogging of the cutterhead in cohesive ground and, consequently, a low tunnelling performance. An AVN1600TB excavated an almost one-kilometer-long sewage tunnel through loam, sand, marl and silt under the Danube River in Linz, Austria. The medium pressure nozzle system cut through chunks of loam during tunnelling and kept the excavation chamber free. After only two and a half months the project was successfully completed.
