In the northern Italian province of Vicenza, a project was initiated for water-powered generation of renewable energy. The aim was to use the water from the Asiago plateau and the Astico valley to power a turbine to generate electricity.
The HDD Rig H-035 of the HK250T type bored uphill from September 2008. The installation of an eight-inch steel pipeline in the one-kilometer-long bore involved managing a difference in altitude of 450 meters. During installation, the HDD Rig encountered and easily mastered rock strengths of up to 160 megapascals and numerous unforeseen cavities and crevices.
